Art and creativity, we think, are abditory.
Dear Readers,
We recently discovered our new favorite word - Abditory. It means a place for hiding or preserving articles of value. The beauty of it is that you can use it for both hiding and preserving - two words so different that they seem the same.
Art and creativity, we think, are abditory. We sometimes hide ourselves and sometimes preserve others in them.
Between the lines of art and creativity, there are crooks and crannies where we can see our morbid thoughts, insecurities and doubts; stacked safely out of sight. We hide them with a beautiful front and there’s a solemn relief that only we know they exist. It is an outlet, an extension of us through which we survive.
Between those same lines beams fleeting moments and things and people and feelings we want to safeguard. Art is now a vessel, a treasure box that you shuffle through once in a while.
Art and creativity, we think, are abditory.
