🌈Pride and Podcasts! Content to tune into this pride month🌈
On June 28, 1969, the US faced a series of riots where members of the gay community staged an uprising against the police harassments and prosecution of LGBTQ Americans at the Stonewall Inn in New York City. This day in history marked the beginning of a movement that put an end to all discriminatory laws and practices against the LGBTQ+ community.Â
On July 2, 1999, India saw its first modern-day pride movement. Kolkata hosted the Kolkata Rainbow Pride Walk that included 15 members - all women. Today, around 21 cities in India hold the annual pride march where thousands of people come out painting the streets in rainbow hues, wearing colorful outfits, happy faces and a lot of love. Â
Podcasts have been a great medium for the LGBTQ+ community to share their stories of coming out, connecting and battling for their rights, spreading awareness and sharing the spirit of pride. In this newsletter edition, we are celebrating the same pride spirit. We’ve rounded up some interesting podcasts and articles about the LGBTQ+ community that you must check out to keep your pride spirits up!
