The Podcasting Scoop 2.0
Dear Readers,
We started this newsletter back in early 2021 when the podcasting world was picking its pace. Our initial goal with The Podcasting Scoop was to bring you the best and latest of creativity and podcasting to help you learn and grow in your creative endeavors.
Since then, Hubhopper has grown a lot.
With our learnings from the previous year, we have created a brand new framework for The Podcasting Scoop.
This year, The Podcasting Scoop will be more comprehensive, inclusive and creative. The podcast community is interactive - always mingling, improving and growing. We love putting things into action and we’ll incorporating some of that action-driven content into this newsletter.
A big thanks to all the readers who subscribed to the newsletter in 2021. Now let's have a look at a few exciting things that happened this week!
Scoops of the week:
1. Netflix has launched ‘The Gay Agenda,’ a podcast that celebrates the LGBTQ community.
The show is aimed to be celebratory, championing success stories “through a loving and humorous lens."
The podcast is produced by Most, Netflix’s banner for its LGBTQ storytelling and is hosted by lesbian actress, singer/songwriter and podcaster Jasmin Savoy Brown & producer and nonbinary actor, comic and playwright Liv Hewson.
2. If you missed the frenzy of podcast predictions of 2022, then here are some good ones by Pacific Content and Bryan Barletta. Check out our favorite picks here.
While you're at it, here are some marketing insights that will help you grow your podcast.
3. Joe Rogan has gotten Spotify into trouble as his recent episode was criticized for pushing anti-vax misinformation.
Through an open letter signed by a coalition of 270 doctors, nurses, scientists and educators, Spotify has been urged to take action against the mass-misinformation spread by Joe Rogan.
4. Sriram Krishnan and Aarthi Ramamurthy, hosts of the clubhouse audio series ‘The Good Time Show,’ have been signed by WME, the international talent agency.
5. Spotify has won a trademark battle against Potify, a platform via which legal marijuana dispensaries can sell their products. The streaming platform believes that the word ‘Potify’ is diluting its brand.
